Dear Parents,
My goal is to help every student in the class develop a love for science learning and a basic understanding of the fourth grade Science and Technology standards.
My goal is to help every student in the class develop a love for science learning and a basic understanding of the fourth grade Science and Technology standards.
To accomplish this, I provide experiences that are fun, challenging, and relevant to the world we live in. Videos, journal articles, non-fiction texts, investigations, and teamwork are important parts of each unit. I also encourage my students to get messy, ask questions, and to make and learn from mistakes. |
Since I want my students to be busy doing rather than memorizing, and because I only get to see the students once a week, I often embed assessments into the class activities rather than taking time to do traditional worksheets or paper tests. Doing this allows me to monitor student understanding while each one is actively involved in the experience.
You can support my efforts by asking your child to tell you about class activities, reinforcing the concepts at home, and providing them with science books and magazines. After all, we both want your child to have the best learning experiences possible.
If you ever have questions about science class, please email me at [email protected].
Professionally,
Mrs. Chilson
