TO EARN A GOOD GRADE IN SCIENCE CLASS:
- I must pay attention in class. This means I am not speaking unless told to do so.
- I will follow along when my classmates or teacher read important texts out loud. This means I will always know where we are in the text! I will be seeing the words, listening to the words, and thinking about the words!
- When the teacher is speaking, or when my classmates are sharing ideas or answers, I will look at them to show that I am listening.
- During class discussions, I will raise my hand when I want to make a comment or answer a question. However, I will not raise my hand when someone is in the middle of sharing an idea or reading out loud.
- I will ask questions about the world and my observations. I will also ask questions when I don’t understand something or if I want to know more about the observations of others.
- I will try to think scientifically and use what I know to make inferences about experiments or concepts.
- I will also try to figure things out by myself rather than asking someone else to tell me answers or do things for me.
- I will complete every assignment and check it before I turn it in. I will also include my name and the date.
- I will take notes and then re-read my notes. I will also use my notes to teach ideas to others.
- I will read science books and articles to learn more about the concepts covered in class.
- I will use the internet to research as many science topics as I can. I will share with others what I learn.
- If I have difficulty on any assignments and earn a D or F, I will complete a correction assignment and get a parent’s signature. By doing this, I can bring the D or F score to a C!
- I will follow the directions on all assignments, binder work, and projects.
- I will bring all materials to class: my binder, my yellow folder and all return to school items.
- I will take careful notes that identify main ideas and supporting details.
- I will be excited about learning and will strive to make connections between new concepts and what I already know. I will share these connections with others.
- I will do my best work on projects, and complete them by the due date.
- If I am absent, I will ask for my make-up work. I know that it is my responsibility to get it done and turn it in.
- I will work well with others when group work is assigned. This means I will utilize respectful conversation skills and compromise.
- I will think a lot and enjoy learning. It is fun to know a lot about many topics!!
- I will study and learn, even when no one tells me to do so!
